The 50x spread nobody explains
Search for asset tokenization cost and the public answers do not agree with each other. Seven published sources, gathered across vendor blogs, video explainers and legal-cost guides, quote ranges from $10,000 to $350,000 or more in their own name, and past $500,000 once Antier's per-competitor attributions are counted, for what each one calls a tokenization platform build. None of them is simply wrong. Most are pricing a different scope, a different timeline or a different axis of cost, platform build versus securities-offering legal cost, than the source sitting next to it.

Why the spread holds together once you look closer
Five patterns explain almost all of the divergence in the table above. Some sources price an MVP scope while others price an enterprise scope and never say so. TokenizeStartup counts securities-offering legal cost on top of the platform build explicitly, while most others count platform build only and stay silent about legal cost. Techfyte folds compliance integrations and audits into the number, as it states, while others mention compliance only as a feature bullet with no cost attached. A licensed, white-label deployment gets priced against a fully custom build from zero in some quotes. And some, plainly, are lead-generation content optimized to quote the lowest defensible number rather than a realistic one. None of that makes any single figure in the table wrong on its own terms. It does mean that stacking two of these numbers side by side, without knowing which of the five patterns produced each one, tells you almost nothing.
One of those publishers, Antier, quotes its own build range at $50,000-$300,000 over two to five months, and separately attributes ranges to named competitors such as Tokeny, Securitize, Ondo and Stobox, unverified attributions cited only as evidence of how wide the publicly claimed range runs (see the sources note below).
A separate press release from SoluLab claims a full tokenization platform launch in as little as 14 days, with no price attached at all. Timeline claims diverge just as sharply as price claims, and the two usually move together: a 14-day platform and a 9-18 month enterprise build are not competing for the same scope, whatever either one costs.
The five things "tokenization platform" can mean
Most of the 50x spread collapses once you separate quotes by what they are actually building. Public estimates rarely name the tier, so the burden falls on the buyer to ask. In roughly ascending order of scope:
- Token contract only. A single smart contract deployed to a chain, with no investor portal, no compliance layer and no custody integration. This is the cheapest possible reading of "tokenize an asset" and the one behind most of the lowest published quotes.
- White-label issuance page. A licensed platform's front end wrapped around infrastructure the issuer does not own, fast to launch, but the issuer does not control the underlying compliance logic or the investor relationship.
- Full issuance platform. A custom-built token issuance flow with investor onboarding and a portal, but without jurisdiction-aware compliance rules enforced inside the token contract itself.
- Compliance-integrated platform. Eligibility and transfer rules are enforced at the token level, KYC, accreditation and jurisdiction gating wired directly into every transfer rather than bolted onto a front end.
- Institutional-grade with custody. Everything in the compliance-integrated tier plus institutional custody integration, oracle-fed valuation, independent security audits and a compliant secondary market.
A quote for tier one and a quote for tier five can both be honest and still differ by 50x; vendors are not lying about price, they are simply not naming the tier.
Why the ambiguity persists
Part of the reason "tokenization platform" stays this vague in public pricing content is that the phrase is genuinely useful marketing shorthand for all five tiers at once. A vendor selling a white-label issuance page and a vendor selling an institutional-grade custody-integrated platform both have a commercial reason to use the same phrase, since the buyer searching for a tokenization platform has not always decided which tier they need either. That is exactly why a scope conversation, not a headline price, has to be the first step in any real quote comparison, and why the checklist later in this article asks about scope before it asks about price.
What the cheap quotes leave out
InvestaX publishes the most itemized public breakdown we collected, splitting technology infrastructure ($10,000-$100,000), token development and issuance ($20,000-$100,000) and asset valuation and due diligence ($5,000-$100,000) into separate line items. That level of detail is the exception, not the rule, and even it stops short of two of the costliest components on a real build.
Across every external estimate we gathered, not one itemizes custody integration, ongoing operations or a standalone audit line as its own budget item. These estimates do not fold custody into a small rounding number; none of the collected public estimates prices it at all. A quote that looks like a bargain against the $10,000-$100,000 low end of the public range has, in most cases, simply not been asked to include institutional custody, ongoing operational cost or an independent audit.
This is not a criticism of the sources gathered here, several of them are transparent about what their number does and does not cover. It is a warning about the ones that are not. If a quote does not mention custody, ongoing operations or an audit by name, the honest assumption is that none of the three is priced in, not that they were folded into the total quietly. That gap alone can explain a large share of the distance between a $10,000 quote and a $250,000 one for what both sides call the same platform. None of this makes a low number automatically dishonest, a quote at the bottom of that range is exactly right for tier one, a token contract deployed on its own with no compliance layer, custody or secondary market attached.
Our published baseline and where it sits

An MVP for a single asset class and one jurisdiction, roughly tiers one to three above, runs $50,000-$150,000. A production-ready, multi-feature platform, closer to tier four, runs $100,000-$250,000. An enterprise, multi-jurisdiction build with the institutional-grade tier five scope runs $250,000 to over $1,000,000.

The quote-normalization checklist
You cannot compare two tokenization quotes by their headline number alone. You can compare them once you normalize both against the same scope checklist. Ask the following of any quote before weighing it against another.

Run any two quotes through that table before comparing the total. Two numbers that look 5x apart often converge once both sides answer the same seven questions, and two numbers that look close can turn out to be quoting completely different builds.
